Highway Hotline update: Blowing snow and icy sections for most of province

Highway travellers should be sure to check highway conditions before leaving and take caution as conditions may change rapidly while driving

THE BATTLEFORDS — The blowing snow advisories are back on for most of the southern half of Saskatchewan. And by southern half we mean, geographically, from the U.S. border all the way up to Prince Albert.

The Highway Hotline is showing most roads described as having winter driving conditions, including blowing and swirling snow and icy or slippery sections.

Environment Canada says strong northwest winds with gusts of 60 to 70 km/h will combine with flurries to produce areas of reduced visibilities. Some areas may see prolonged periods of blowing snow, while others may encounter abrupt changes in visibility as bands of flurries move through.

Winds will gradually diminish and conditions will improve this afternoon in western Saskatchewan, this evening in eastern Saskatchewan and overnight in western Manitoba.

While there are no roads closed at this time, there are still a few that are not recommended for travel.
