Motorists in the area are still asked to drive with caution

PIERCELAND — Pierceland RCMP reports that local road conditions have now improved, but multiple vehicles, including semis and passenger vehicles, slid into the ditches early Thursday morning due to the extremely icy road conditions.

Early Thursday, Pierceland RCMP was asking motorists to stay off Highway 55, especially between Peerless and Meadow Lake and in the vicinity of Golden Ridge, and Highway 4, south of Meadow Lake between Glaslyn and Meadow Lake – as the roads were ice-covered.

In addition to sliding into the ditch, vehicles were having difficulty traveling up the other side of the valley hill. No injuries had been reported to police at the time of their news releases being issued.

Motorists in the area are still asked to drive with caution. Before travelling, check up-to-date road conditions on the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline map at: http://hotline.gov.sk.ca/map.html.
