Battleford town councilor Gordon Yarde was challenged to sing Jingle Bells at the close of Monday evening’s last council meeting of the year – and he seemed happy to oblige.
He directed other council members and the gallery in singing the seasonal favourite.
Mayor Derek Mahon issued the challenge, joking that after Montreal Canadien star defenceman P.K. Subban challenged Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to warble the turn, he also issued one to Yarde.
Monday’s meeting was also the last official meeting of Town Administrator Sheryl Ballendine, left, who is retiring after nearly 35 years with the town.
