Meaning will, desire, helmet and protector, the name Liam jumped to the number one spot for popular baby boy names in Saskatchewan in 2010, with 89 Liams coming home from the hospital.
Previously, Ethan was the most popular name for boys, a position the name held for nine consecutive years, according to Saskatchewan Vital Statistics.
With 82 boys being given the name in 2010, Ethan is now the second-most popular boy's name, while Jacob takes number three, with 75.
As for girls, Emma was the favourite in the province, with 76 baby girls being given the name, which means whole, complete or universal. Emma was also the title of a Jane Austen novel.
Ava and Olivia trailed behind with 71 and 59 baby girls receiving the names in 2010, respectively.
But don't expect to see a surge of Liams or Emmas at the daycare - with 14,978 births in 2010, there's a wide range of names out there.
That's the most births Saskatchewan has seen since 1992, when 14,992 bundles of joy were delivered.
