LeRoy School students to learn from home until May 5 after additional case, detection of variants

LEROY — An additional COVID-19 case has been diagnosed at LeRoy School. The Horizon School Division said they were made aware April 23. They were told of two other cases on April 21 .

LEROY — An additional COVID-19 case has been diagnosed at LeRoy School.

The Horizon School Division said they were made aware April 23. They were told of two other cases on April 21.

"Health has informed us that the cases at LeRoy School involve variants of concern, and the situation at the school has been deemed an outbreak," the division said in a media release.

As of April 24, the province said there has been 57 cases of the U.K. variant, B.1.1.7, detected in the Central East Zone. No other variant has been detected in the zone.

"Out of an abundance of caution and care, students at LeRoy School will continue Learning from Home until Wednesday, May 5."

The division said it said it cannot provide further details to protect the privacy of those involved.
