Lloydminster man facing charges in Sask. and Alta. fails to appear

If Jason Krysta fails to appear in court Aug. 22 the bench warrant to hold could be activated

LLOYDMINSTER – A bench warrant to hold has been issued against a Lloydminster man who failed to appear in court Thursday.

If 31-year-old Jason Krysta doesn’t appear in Lloydminster court Aug. 22, the judge may activate the bench warrant to hold.

Krysta is facing charges in Saskatchewan and Red Deer, Alta.

In Saskatchewan he was charged in May with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, two counts of failing to comply with release conditions.

Krysta also has charges out of Lloydminster, Sask., from November 2021 when he was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault, break and enter to a home with intent to commit an indictable offence, two counts of threats to cause death, two counts of theft of a cell phone from two separate people with threats to use violence, theft of keys with threat to use violence, mischief by damaging a door, and failing to comply with a release order not to carry or have weapons except work tools while used at a job site, or utensils used while preparing or eating food.

In Red Deer, Alta., Krysta is charged with uttering threats, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to an order, disobeying a court order, and failing to comply with conditions. A preliminary hearing on those charges has been set for Aug. 18 - 19 in Red Deer Provincial Court.

The charges against Krysta haven’t been tested in court.
