During the months of April, May and June, police officers (Cst. Erin Charabin, Cst. Trevor Scott and Cst. Marc Thibodeau) with the Humboldt RCMP instructed the DARE program to the Grade 5 and 6 students at the following schools within the area: Annaheim School, Englefeld School, Humboldt Public School, Lake Lenore School, Muenster School, St. Dominic School and Three Lakes School.

DARE is a 10-hour program that is instructed at the Grade 5 and 6 level by a uniformed police officer. The program is designed to help students make positive choices in their lives. They learned about the harmful effects of the use of drugs, specifically tobacco, alcohol and marihuana, how to make wise decisions using a problem solving model and strategies on how to resist or say no to negative peer pressure.

To complete the program, students must complete their assignments in the DARE workbook, have good attendance and behavior in class, keep their bodies free from drugs and write a DARE report.
