Man charged in Alex Whitehead's death appears in P. A. court

Police found Alex Whitehead suffering from life-threatening injuries and he later died in hospital

PRINCE ALBERT – A 21-year-old man charged with second-degree murder in the New Year’s Day death of 20-year-old Alex Whitehead had another court appearance.

Court documents show that Richard Budd is also charged with aggravated assault, assault, and break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence. The charges against Budd haven’t been proven in court.

Whitehead was found with life-threatening injuries just before 4 a.m. on Jan. 1, in a home in the 200 block of 13 Street East after police responded to a weapons complaint. He was taken to a Prince Albert hospital where he died from his injuries.

Budd was remanded in custody following his appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court June 30 and appears next on July 28 to speak to his matter.
