Man charged with robbery in Sturgeon Lake remains in custody

Joshua Naytowhow is charged with robbery with a firearm and using an imitation firearm while committing an offence

PRINCE ALBERT – A man wanted by police in a robbery on Sturgeon Lake First Nation has been denied bail.

Joshua Naytowhow had a show cause hearing in Prince Albert Provincial Court March 2 and is back in court on March 16 to elect how he wants to be tried.

Naytowhow, 29, is charged with robbery with a firearm, use of an imitation firearm while committing an offence, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Prince Albert RCMP say they received a call at about 9:20 p.m. on Dec. 14, 2021, that a man approached a vehicle and threatened the occupants with what was described as a firearm. The people in the vehicle fled and weren’t injured.

Police say that Naytowhow and two other people tried to steal the vehicle but were unsuccessful.

The charges against Naytowhow haven’t been proven in court.
