Man wanted by police gets bail, then escapes electronic monitoring

Vincent Roy was granted bail May 18 and days later he allegedly broke free of his electronic ankle monitor and fled

MEADOW LAKE – A man wanted by police - who was granted bail May 18 - is now wanted by police again after he allegedly broke off his electronic ankle monitoring just days after being released.

Beauval RCMP say that on May 23 they received a report from the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety that an electronic device won by 25-year-old Vincent Roy was tampered with.

The police investigation revealed that Roy was wearing the ankle monitoring device as part of his court-ordered 24-hour curfew conditions and wasn’t at his court-approved residence in Beauval. Police say they found the damaged electronic monitoring device in the home but no Roy.

RCMP released Roy’s photo - again - and asked the public’s help locating him - again. For this incident, police additionally charged Roy with failing to comply with release conditions and mischief.

Police arrested Roy, along with Jelena Lafleur-Laliberte, Braydon Durocher, and two young offenders who can't be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, for an incident April 25 in Beauval. Beauval RCMP allege that Durocher, Roy Lafleur-Laliberte and the two youths, approached vehicles parked outside a home in Beauval and shot into the window of one vehicle. The windows of other parked vehicles were smashed and damaged by fire. One person was inside one of the vehicles at the time but wasn’t injured.

When the occupants of the home approached the accused they were sprayed with bear spray, say police.

Roy, Durocher, Lafleur-Laliberte, and the two male teens were all charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, arson with disregard for human life, arson that caused damage to property, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of a weapon for committing an offence, uttering threats, two counts of mischief. The charges against them haven't been proven in court.

Investigators ask the public to report any information about Roy's whereabouts. He is described as approximately 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

If you see Roy, don't approach him. Call Beauval RCMP at 306-288-6400 with information on their whereabouts. Information can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submitting a tip online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
