Man accused of holding woman against will and forcing 5 schools into lock down granted bail

Ronald Campbell was granted bail today after a show cause hearing in Meadow Lake Provincial Court

MEADOW LAKE – An armed man charged in an incident where five schools were put into lock down when a woman was allegedly held against her will was released on bail.

Ronald Campbell, 26, had a show cause hearing in Meadow Lake Provincial Court Monday. The details of show cause hearings can’t be published.

Campbell, along with Corey Bouvier, 32, and Kevin Bouvier, 38, were arrested last month after Meadow Lake RCMP received a report at 1 p.m. on Nov. 8 that a woman was being held against her will by armed individuals at a home on the 500 block of 7th Avenue West.

When police arrived the occupants refused to let them in and barricaded themselves inside. They determined that a woman was being forced to remain in the residence. As a precaution, police enacted their hold-and-secure procedures during the incident.

Multiple RCMP units assisted Meadow Lake RCMP and they were able to enter the home shortly after 4 p.m. and safely removed the woman. She wasn’t physically injured.

At the scene police arrested the three men.

Campbell, from Buffalo Narrows, was charged with forcible confinement, obstruction of a peace officer, and resisting arrest.

Corey Bouvier, from Meadow Lake, was charged with forcible confinement, obstruction of a peace officer, resisting arrest, and three counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Kevin Bouvier, from Meadow Lake, was charged with forcible confinement, uttering threats, obstruction of a peace officer, and resisting arrest.

All three men were also wanted on outstanding warrants at the time.

Corey Bouvier and Kevin Bouvier have show cause hearings scheduled on Jan. 10, 2022, in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.
