Battlefords RCMP have laid charges of second degree murder against two men in connection to an incident Sunday at Moosomin First Nation.
Charged are Troy Andrew Swiftwolfe, 18, and Taryn Lee Cote, 19. Swiftwolfe is from Moosomin First Nation while Cote is from nearby Saulteaux First Nation.
Both appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court Tuesday and were remanded. They will appear in the same courthouse again March 5.
The two are accused following an incident in the early morning hours of Sunday at a Moosomin First Nation residence. A man, Bryan Darnell Blackstar, 24, died at the scene. An autopsy was set for Tuesday.
Involved in the investigation are North Battleford Rural RCMP detachment members, North Battleford and Meadow Lake Police Dog Services, North Battleford General Investigation Section, Battleford Forensic Identification Services, and Major Crimes Unit - North.
