NIPAWIN — The RM and Town of Nipawin are requesting a traffic study on Highway 55, east of the town following a request from a concerned rural municipality resident.
The specific concern is for traffic accessing the RM subdivisions off of the highway east of the town.
The concern was raised by a resident to the Ministry of Highways, before being redirected to the councils of the RMs and the town, as the Ministry requires both their support before proceeding with a study.
The Town of Nipawin passed the motion to seek the study at their Sept. 13 council meeting, after the RM of Nipawin passed a similar motion at their Aug. 10 meeting.
“It was a formal request, and we decided we would do it together,” said Rennie Harper, Nipawin’s mayor. “It is a joint effort by the two of us.”
There is no timeline set for the study, which will be conducted through the Ministry of Highways.
