The City of North Battleford has once again received a Municipal Police Grant from the province of Saskatchewan in the amount of $770,000.
This goes towards targeted policing initiatives and is similar to past amounts from the province. It goes towards funding seven North Battleford RCMP positions in 2015-16.
The grant supports 125 municipal police positions and targeted police initiatives around Saskatchewan. Last week, it was announced Meadow Lake had also received a grant for $770,000, which again supports seven RCMP positions in that city.
“Community safety has always been a major priority for the Government of Saskatchewan,” Environment Minister and North Battleford MLA Herb Cox said in a news release on behalf of Corrections and Policing Minister Christine Tell.
“We are able to provide support to the community of North Battleford through continued funding of the Municipal Police Grants.”
“The continued support of the Municipal Police Grants enables us to ensure our community’s safety,” North Battleford Mayor Ian Hamilton said in a statement.
“We are grateful to the province for their continued support of policing in North Battleford.”
