Local gangs appear to be taking to social media to instigate activity.
Friday, the Battlefords RCMP detachment was made aware of a mass text messageas well as Facebook posts advising of possible gang initiations involving firearms targeting random people in the community of North Battleford.
The Battlefords RCMP is assuring the public they are actively investigating and are taking all necessary precautions in the event there is any validity to the messages and posts.
RCMP say these mass messages should not in any way inhibit the public from their normal daily activities. However, the public is asked to report any suspicious activities to the Battlefords Detachment.
Further information will be released as it becomes available.
