The first of the bylaws resulting from the recently-adopted 2013 North Battleford budget made its way to council Monday.
Introduced was a bylaw to establish rates for residential refuse collection and removal and for the operation of communal recycling depots.
That bylaw would set the rate for collection and removal of residential refuse at $9 a month per residential unit, and $6 per month per residential unit for costs associated with establishment of communal recycling depots.
These rates were agreed to by the majority of councillors during the recent budget process, with the budget adopted at a special meeting last week.
While the bylaw was introduced and given two readings at Monday's meeting, the unanimous consent needed for third reading was not obtained as Councillor Trent Houk cast a lone opposing vote.
As a result, the bylaw will come back to council for third reading and likely passage at the March 11 meeting.
