The Rural Municipality of North Battleford has passed its budget for 2020.
According to a news release from the R.M., it passed April 8 at a “socially distanced” meeting held by the R.M. council.
The budget marks the fourth consecutive one with no tax increases. As well, this comes in spite of startup costs of a new fire department. But the R.M. noted they received “multiple donations” by businesses and individuals, and that allowed them to maintain the mill rate.
“There has been a lot of development with the construction of the new R.M. office, shop and fire hall located north of the City but there was no need to increase the municipal mill rate. Council always keeps the ratepayers in mind so therefore spends very conservatively and for the betterment of the whole municipality.” Said R.M. administrator Debbie Arsenault in a statement.
