Update: Charge of second-degree murder laid in Sandy Bay death

Sandy Bay RCMP responded to a report of a seriously injured male brought to the local health clinic and he died shortly after

SANDY BAY – Update 1:32 p.m.: As a result of investigation into a suspicious death, Nicholas David Paul Bear, 23, of Sandy Bay is charged with one count of second-degree murder, Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code, in relation to the death of Nickison Bear.

Nicholas Bear appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court via phone at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 1.

Background 10:52 a.m.: The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit, in conjunction with Sandy Bay RCMP Detachment, Saskatchewan RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Prince Albert Police Dog Services, Prince Albert General Investigation Section and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, are investigating a suspicious death which occurred in the community of Sandy Bay yesterday morning.

On Nov. 29, 2021, shortly before 8:30 a.m., Sandy Bay RCMP responded to a report of a seriously injured male brought to the local health clinic. The man died shortly after.

An adult male was arrested without incident on Nov. 29 in relation to this investigation.
