The Blaine Lake Snowdrifterz held a successful snowmobile rally March 2. The 60-mile trek lead snowmobile enthusiasts of all ages through the vast landscape from open farm fields and meadows on level terrain up into the treed area of Thickwood Hills to the mid-point location. It was there that the riders had an opportunity to refuel themselves with food and their machines with fuel.

Over 150 registered riders enjoyed the scenic route and the warm weather. Riders were identified as from Grandora, Vanscoy, Clavet, Moose Jaw, Assiniboia, Shell Lake, Gravelbourg, Langham, Borden, Laird, Martensville, Hepburn, Marcelin and Blaine Lake. The $10 per rider fee gave each rider an opportunity to win one of the many donated prizes provided by sponsors.

Food and refreshments were available back in Blaine Lake following the rally. First prize of $336 went to Owen Johnson of Leask, second place of $225 went to Gilles Gauthier of Blaine Lake and third place of $112 went to Kirby Senft of Lipton. The 50/50 draw of $222.50 went to Owen Johnson of Leask.

The event was a success due to the efforts of the many volunteers, the snowmobilers who participated and the sponsors and donators. With the anticipation of snow for the 2013/14 season, plans will be underway for the 13th annual Snowdrifterz Snowmobile Rally.
