St. Brieux pair charged with meth and firearm related offences

ST. BRIEUX — Two men from St. Brieux were arrested and charged with methamphetamine and firearm related offences after the RCMP executed a search warrant pertaining to an illegal firearms investigation.

ST. BRIEUX — Two men from St. Brieux were arrested and charged with methamphetamine and firearm related offences after the RCMP executed a search warrant pertaining to an illegal firearms investigation.

The Melfort RCMP, with the assistance of Tisdale RCMP, the Prince Albert RCMP Police Dog Service, Smeaton RCMP and the Saskatchewan RCMP Legal Application Support Team executed the search warrant on Dec. 8.

In addition to the meth and firearms, the Melfort RCMP said they have found “numerous” stolen items on the location.

Blake Gaillard, a 49-year-old from St. Brieux, has been charged with careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm when prohibited, possession of a firearm with tampered serial number, possession of a weapon contrary to a probation order (four counts), possession of property obtained by crime (three counts), and possession of methamphetamine.

Barkley Swenson, a 46-year-old from St. Brieux has been charged with possession of a weapon contrary to a probation order (two counts), possession of property obtained by crime (two counts), and possession of methamphetamine.

Two women, who the RCMP arrested on the location have been released without charges.

The investigation is ongoing.

Gaillard and Swenson had their first appearance in Nipawin Provincial Court via phone on Dec. 9. They will stay in custody until their next appearance at the Melfort Provincial Court on Dec. 14.
