Structure fire on 107th Street

A fallen floor lamp appears to be to blame for a structure fire on the 1300 block of 107th Street in North Battleford. The incident happened shortly before 11:30 a.m., according to North Battleford Fire Department.

This was the scene last week at the 1300 block of 107th Street as emergency crews responded to a structure fire on the street. It was determined the incident was caused by a fallen floor lamp.

A fallen floor lamp appears to be to blame for a structure fire on the 1300 block of 107th Street in North Battleford.

The incident happened shortly before 11:30 a.m., according to North Battleford Fire Department. The fire department says it was reported by a SaskPower meter reader in the area, who heard the smoke alarm go off inside the property.

The fire department reports their crews entered to find light smoke in the house, caused by a fallen floor lamp that had partially burned through the floor in the building.

The fire was extinguished quickly. There were no injuries as no one was home at the time of the incident.

Fire crews were on the scene for roughly one hour. Two fire trucks with eight fire personnel responded, with two chief officers on the scene as well. Also on scene were the RCMP and WPD Ambulance.

The fire department reminds residents to turn off lights and electrical appliances when not being used.

Thursday emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 13th Avenue and 100th Street at about 4:45 p.m. According to NBFD, the occupants of the two vehicles were checked at the scene and released. On vehicle had to be towed.
