MEADOW LAKE – A trial has been set for a Calgary man charged with drug trafficking.

The trial for 22-year-old Yeamet Obong is scheduled for Feb. 10 in La Loche Circuit Point, to be heard in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.

Obong, along with Janvier Fabiana, 36, and a young offender who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were arrested in August after La Loche RCMP raided a home on Raphael Street.

At the residence, police seized more than $4,000 in cash, more than half a pound of suspected cocaine, 15 grams of suspected fentanyl, quantities of other suspected drugs, and numerous fake identification and cell phones.

Obong is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, using/trafficking, possession of a forged document, and failing to comply with a release order.

Fabiana is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime. He appeared in court Nov. 29 and his matter was adjourned to Jan. 17, 2022, for election.

The charges against Obong, Fabiana, and the young offender haven’t been proven in court.
