MELFORT — Two men have been charged after search warrants executed at two Melfort homes found drug paraphernalia, unknown pills, unknown powder substances and weapons.
The searches were done on the morning of April 15 by the Melfort RCMP under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, with the assistance from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, Crime Reduction Team, Tisdale RCMP and Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan.
Police said four individuals were arrested. Four people – one man and one woman from each of the two residences – were taken into custody.
The unknown substances found during the searches are being sent to Health Canada for testing.
27-year-old Craig Natomagan of Prince Albert has been charged by RCMP with possession of a weapon for a dangerous and two counts of fail to comply with a release order. Natomagan appeared before Melfort Provincial Court on April 16, on these charges and several outstanding arrest warrants. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on April 21.
66-year-old Vance Shmyr of Melfort has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine. He is scheduled to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on July 13.
The two women were released with no charges.
Melfort RCMP said the investigation is still ongoing.
