Two women arrested by Saskatoon Police Guns & Gangs unit remain in custody

In April, the Saskatoon Police Guns & Gangs Unit and the Tactical Support Unit evacuated the multi-unit dwelling and arrested charged four people.

Two women facing numerous weapons-related charges after the Saskatoon Guns & Gangs Unit arrested them remain in custody.

Madisson Starchief, 21, appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court July 28 to enter an election on three of her 19 charges but the matter was adjourned to Aug. 5.

Jana Lynn Deschamps, 50, also remains in custody and appears next in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Aug. 9.

A bench warrant to hold was issued for 25-year-old Shaylyn McKay on July 28. If she doesn’t appear in court on Aug. 16 the warrant will be activated.

Erland Fiddler, 34, also appeared in court July 28 and his matter was adjourned to Aug. 11.

In April, the Saskatoon Police Guns & Gangs Unit and the Tactical Support Unit evacuated the multi-unit dwelling and arrested seven people after receiving information that individuals were in possession of firearms at a residence in the 300 block of Avenue R South. Three were later released without charges.

Police found a loaded, sawed-off rifle and ammunition inside the residence.
