Update on masked men incident near Fiske

There has been an update from RCMP about an incident Monday, Sept. 19 when three armed masked suspects approached a victim on a grid road south of Highway 7 near Fiske.

There has been an update from RCMP about an incident Monday, Sept. 19 when three armed masked suspects approached a victim on a grid road south of Highway 7 near Fiske.

According to the RCMP, Rosetown detachment continues to follow up on all leads and tips in regards to the three individuals.  Further interviews are being completed and extended rural patrols are continuing. However, no suspects have been taken into custody in regards to this complaint.

As well, Rosetown detachment has had no other reports or sightings of masked individuals with handguns to date. Further details will be provided as it becomes available.

According to police, the initial call had come in at approximately 11:40 a.m. Police say they were told  the perpetrators had approached the victim on foot with what was described as three hand guns. The victim immediately left the scene but was able to witness the subjects get into an older-style black SUV.

The three men are described as each wearing balaclavas covering half their faces. One had a long dark ponytail and a second was described as having orange, curly hair.

Rosetown, Kindersley, Eston, Kerrobert, Unity, Biggar, Swift Current Rural and North Battleford Rural RCMP Detachments, as well as Swift Current PDS and volunteers flying in planes, responded to the call in the search for the men and vehicle.

Schools in rural areas were placed on a hold and secure for precautionary measures, but those were lifted by 3 p.m.
