Upgrades are coming to beach facilities at the Resort Village of Cochin thanks to funding help from the federal government.
Federal support of $13,150 was announced by Gerry Ritz, MP for Battlefords-Lloydminster, Sept. 4. The funding is under the federal government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund.
The money will go towards renovations of the beach change house, washrooms and pump house, as well as to build a connecting breezeway for the three facilities. According to a federal government news release, the upgrades address sanitation and waste management concerns, while providing better access to washrooms and change rooms.
"Our government is committed to creating jobs, growth and long-term prosperity in our communities across Saskatchewan and all of Canada," said Ritz in a statement. "This investment will boost the local economy while ensuring these facilities are enjoyed for years to come."
The funding announcement was welcomed by Cochin resort village mayor Brad Pattinson.
"As mayor and long time seasonal resident at the resort, I am pleased we received the infrastructure funding to renovate the facilities on the beach," said Pattinson in a statement. "Our plan to improve the washrooms, change house and pump house will go a long way in helping to provide a more enjoyable experience for tourists and the residents in the surrounding area who use the beach."
