Vehicle strikes three-year-old girl

The three-year-old girl struck by a motor vehicle on the Mosquito First Nation on July 29 died in hospital Friday morning as a result of the injuries she received.

The three-year-old girl struck by a motor vehicle on the Mosquito First Nation on July 29 died in hospital Friday morning as a result of the injuries she received. Battleford RCMP members continue their investigation and no determination has been reached on whether charges will be laid as of yet.


  The Battlefords RCMP Detachment and EMS responded to a collision on the Mosquito First Nation at approximately 8:30 p.m. July 29 where a three-year-old girl was struck by a motor vehicle.


The injured girl was initially transported to Battlefords Union Hospital, before being transferred to Saskatoon via STARS air ambulance.


The collision occurred at a residential property on the Mosquito First Nation, located approximately 30 kilometres south of Battleford. The lone male driver of the vehicle was not injured and it has been determined that alcohol was not a factor in the collision. Battleford RCMP members are continuing the investigation with the assistance of the Battleford Forensic Identification Services Unit and the General Investigation Services Units out of Saskatoon and Battleford.


There has been no decisions made yet as to whether charges will be laid in this instance.
