RED EARTH CREE NATION – Volunteers from across the prairie provinces have poured into Red Earth Cree Nation to help search for missing five-year-old Frank Young.
Volunteers from Lloydminster Rescue Squad, Battlefords SAR, Prince Albert North SAR, Meadow Lake and District SAR, SAR Regina, Saskatoon SAR, Moose Jaw SAR, Wadena SAR, Wood River SAR, Porcupine Plain SAR, Parkland SAR – Saskatchewan, Buckland Fire and Rescue, North Corman Park SAR, Wadena SAR, Carrot River SAR, Porcupine Plain SAR, Shoal Lake, Yorkton SAR, Cumberland House, Coty FN, Carry the Kettle, Hudson Bay SAR, Ontario Mohawk Nation, Moose Lake Cree Nation, Stanley Mission, Grandmothers Bay, Montreal Lake, and Winnipeg SAR are all contributing.
“There has been an overwhelming response of people who have come from great distances - all over Saskatchewan, but also from Alberta and Manitoba as well,” said the Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers on social media.
The Saskatchewan RCMP Ground Search and Rescue team, through Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, put out the call out for volunteers. All of the volunteers are working alongside Red Earth Cree Nation and area fire departments, Prince Albert Grand Council, Search and Rescue and Recovery Teams, First Nation Emergency Management and the RCMP “F” Division Ground SAR team.
Donations accepted
To help support the volunteers and search efforts, Red Earth Cree Nation Search and Rescue is accepting monetary donations. So far they have raised more than $16,000. Food and supplies have also been donated by numerous businesses and groups from the area including, Nipawin IGA, Nipawin Co-op, PA Inn, Carrot River Tavern, Tisdale Co-op, FSIN, White Fox General Store, NEECIP, SK Victim Services, Cumberland Northern Store, Mitigation Prep Response Recovery, Health Centre RECN, CFS - RECN, Chief Island Store, Bargain Store, Sings Cafe, and Sunrise Cafe.
Hope for Frank
The hashtag #HopeforFrank is trending on social media as the massive search effort continues for missing 5-year-old Frank Young.
The family has asked for privacy. During a media conference with Chief Fabian Head and RCMP Sgt. Richard Tonge on Red Earth Cree Nation April 23, reporters were told that the parents wouldn’t be speaking to the media. Frank Young's parents are Darrel and Tanya Young from Shoal Lake First Nation. He has lived with Jarvis and Barbra McKay since he was 18-months-old, confirmed FSIN.
Saskatchewan RCMP say the search for Frank Young continues and Carrot River RCMP thanks the local communities and everyone involved in the search.
Frank Young was last seen near his residence on Red Earth Cree Nation April 19 at approximately 12:30 p.m. Investigators have determined he was possibly seen at the local playground as early as 2:30 p.m. RCMP say that they have no information he was abducted.
Frank Young is four feet tall, approximately 66 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing Paw Patrol rubber boots, blue and green dinosaur pyjamas and a navy blue windbreaker-style jacket.
Carrot River RCMP continues to ask the public to report any information on the whereabouts of the missing child. Anyone who saw Frank Young on April 19, or has any information about his whereabouts, should call Carrot River RCMP at 306-768-1200. In an emergency, call 911 immediately.
