Woman charged with manslaughter also charged with assault in separate incident

Lynessa Highway is accused of killing Adam Pelletier in Oct. 2020, and assaulting a woman in July 2020

PRINCE ALBERT - A 19-year-old woman accused of shooting and killing a man in Prince Albert is also charged with assaulting a woman three months prior.

Lynessa Highway is accused of shooting and killing 18-year-old Adam Pelletier at a home in the 1700 block of 14 Street West in Prince Albert on Oct. 10, 2020. He died four days later. Highway was charged with manslaughter in Pelletier’s death.

She is also charged with assaulting a woman in Prince Albert July 14, 2020.

Highway was released from custody on bail in October 2020.

Her preliminary hearing wrapped up in December 2021 and the case was sent to Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench for trial. She has pretrial conference April 22 and a trial date may be set at that time on the manslaughter with a firearm charge.

On the assault charge, Highway has also pleaded not guilty and a trial is set for Aug. 8 in Prince Albert Provincial Court.

The charges against Highway haven’t been proven in court.
