It is a male 16-year-old youth who is in custody in connection to the shooting incident that happened Thursday morning in the vicinity of 8th Ave. and 110th Street in North Battleford.
According to the latest update this afternoon RCMP, the 16-year-old youth was arrested shortly before 9 a.m., after a six square block area near 10th Avenue and 110th Street was searched by police. Police say a residence on the 1000 block of 110th Street was confirmed to have been struck by at least one round from a firearm shortly after 7 a.m. this morning. Police say it is suspected that several rounds from a .22 calibre firearm were discharged. During the search for the suspect a .22 calibre rifle was recovered, and police say this rifle had been reported stolen from a residence near the City of North Battleford earlier this week.
Police had initially stated the suspect was an adult male, however, they now confirm he is a youth.
Charges are still pending and were expected to be laid later today.
