The inaugural year, 2012, for the U.K. Royals was a good one. Fielding a team made up of players from both Unity and Kindersley, a phenomenal year was experienced winning both a Provincial Jr. B title as well as capturing the Western Canadian Jr. B girls' title.

Coaches Don Robertson from Unity and Jo-Ann McAdam and Randy Ervine from Kindersley along with trainer John "huntize" Klaen are hungry to win a championship at home.
July 5, 6 and 7 at the Unity diamonds, seven teams will come to unseat the champions. Teams attending will be the Alameda Royals, Moosomin 981 Predators, who were last year's Midget B Provincial champs, Regina Queen City Fusion, Moose Jaw Lazers, Saskatoon Erical Eclipse, Saskatoon Co-op GForce and the Saskatoon Fury.
With seven returning players from last year the roster includes: Charnelle Jellison, Chelsea Robertson, Natalie Kiefer, Shirraya Tuchscherer and Jenna Wood from Unity. Kelsey Wildeman, was picked up by the team for their Western's run last year and is now a first year Junior player after playing last fall with the University of Saskatoon's women's softball team. Marley Ervine and Alex McAdam from Kindersley also played with the team last year.
Newcomers this year are Janna Walz, from Unity, Megan McDonald, from Kindersley, Nancy Anderson, from Luseland, and Brook Mutch and Chantel Belanger from Kindersley. Pitchers for the team are Alex McAdam and Chelsea Robertson.
"This is a good, hard working group of ball players. They are competitive and have gelled really well as a team again," coaches said.
Junior girls' softball consists of players under 21, which is the first division past Midget ball.
Games start Friday, July 5 at the Unity ball diamonds at 4 p.m. Opening ceremonies take place at 6 p.m. followed by the host team playing their first game at 6:30. There is a $1000 50/50 raffle for the weekend, which will be drawn for at 3 p.m. Saturday. For only $20 you can purchase a weekend pass for this event or $10 for a day pass. Children six and under are free. There will be terrific live fastball action all weekend at the Unity ball diamonds as the hunt for a championship takes place.
