AA Bantam Barons take two

The Battlefords Phoenix Sports Bantam AA Barons played at home on the weekend twice and earned two wins to improve to 5-4-1 in Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League action. Saturday, the Barons beat Prince Albert 8-3.

Saturday, the Barons beat Prince Albert 8-3. The two teams combined for 89 shots.

The Barons scored eight goals on 44 shots, as the offence was led by Layne Young who had five points, Colton Iron who had four and Blake Robertson who had three points in the win.

Wyatt Malenfant was the winning goalie making 42 saves for the win.

Sunday, the Barons won 7-2 over Humboldt. This time Mathew Flath was the wining goalie with 32 saves.

The Barons fired 53 shots at the Humboldt net Sunday and after being tied 2-2 after the first period, pulled away with four goals in the second and one in the third period.

Young and Keegan Duret had three points each, while Robertson, Kevin Bendall, Troy Gerein and Brandon Lesko had two points each.

The Barons will resume regular season action Dec. 16 at home to the division leading North East Wolfpack.
