AA minor hockey report

The Barons trailed 3-0, but eventually stormed back 5-4 with five minutes left. North East scored a power play goal and a minute an even strength goal to earn the win 6-5, as they sit at 10-0-0 this season.

Colton Iron scored twice while Layne Young, Keegan Duret and Troy Gerein had single markers. Wyatt Malenfant faced 32 shots in the loss.

Sunday, the Barons were in Prince Albert and won 6-3 over the Raiders. The Barons scored five-first period goals. Young, Duret, Iron Keifer Hintz and Blake Robertson were the goal scorers in the first period.

Iron scored his second of the game late in the second period and Mathew Flath earned the win.

The Barons improved to 2-3-1 in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League standings. The Barons will visit the Sask Valley Vipers Saturday and host the Moose Jaw Warriors Sunday.

At the midget AA level, the Battlefords Barons haven't played a league game since Nov. 6, but will be in action Friday and Saturday with road games in Beardy's and Warman. The Barons are 0-9-1 this season.

Other local area teams, the Midwest Rage are 6-2-1 this season and will be in Unity Sunday.

The Unity Lazers are second in the league with a 6-2-0 mark.

The Battlefords Barons peewee AA team sit this in the Centre Four Hockey League with a 5-5-0 record and will host their home tournament this weekend with action beginning Friday at noon. The final is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. Sunday at the Don Ross Arena.
