AAA Sharks drop two games in Swift Current

The Battlefords AAA Sharks travelled to Swift Current last weekend to play two games against the Wildcats in SMFAAAHL action. The Sharks lost both games by the same 4-0 score. Saturday's game saw a scoreless first period between the teams.

Saturday's game saw a scoreless first period between the teams. Swift Current outshot the Sharks 11-4 in the period.

The Wildcats scored three times in five minutes during the middle frame. Kate Scidmore beat Sharks' goaltender Rachel Mitchell to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead three minutes into the period. Scidmore scored her second of the game almost a minute and a half later. Karlie Bell added a goal with 12 minutes left in the period to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead heading into the third. Brooklyn Haubrich assisted on all three Wildcats' goals.

Kayla Kirwin scored the fourth Wildcats' goal four minutes into the third period.

Mitchell stopped 31 of 35 shots faced for the Sharks. Brooklyn Weisgerber made all 17 saves and earned a shut out for Swift Current.

Swift Current opened the scoring in the first period during Sunday's game. Kate Scidmore beat Mitchell with 23 seconds left in the opening frame.

In the second, the Wildcats were led by two power play goals. With Morgan Fraser in the box for interference, Karlie Bell scored to put Swift Current up 2-0. Tori Kendall capitalized on Keinyn Nordell's penalty for hooking to extend the Wildcats' lead to three.

Keely Chalk scored midway through the third period for Swift Current to put the game out of reach.

Scidmore and Bell both had a goal and two assists for the Wildcats in the game.

Mitchell made 30 saves in the loss for the Sharks. Jasey Book faced 11 shots and stopped them all to give Swift Current their second straight shut out.

The Sharks (1-14-0-0) have an extended break. The team does not play until they return home on Dec. 17 to face Prince Albert at Battleford Arena. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
