The Battlefords AAA Midget Stars (25-13-0-1) travelled to Prince Albert to take on the Mintos (22-14-0-6) Thursday, and came home with a 6-1 loss.

It was an ugly start for the Stars as just 31 seconds into the game Troy Gerein was called for interference giving the Mintos an early power play.

They didn't waste the opportunity, as Brody Reimer scored 1:23 into the man advantage to give Prince Albert the early 1-0 lead. Chase Tippet got the lone assist.

Just 33 seconds after the opening goal Chris Van Os-Shaw scored to double the Mintos lead. Riley Sawchuk earned the assist.

Stars goalie Brett Pongracz was pulled after the goal, giving way for Talen King.

Seven minutes later Os-Shaw was on the board again with help from Kent Hanson and Sawchuk.

Just three and a half minutes after the third goal, the Mintos increased their lead again when Josh Roberts beat King to make it 4-0. Tippet and Reimer got assists, giving them each a two-point night.

Surprisingly, it was the Stars who had a 14-9 shot advantage after the first period.

A scoreless second period ended with the Stars once again having a shot advantage, this time 11-9.

Kaleb Dahlgren scored the lone Stars goal 1:06 into the final frame with Kaelen Holt getting the assist.

Just over a minute later, Os-Shaw stomped out any thoughts of a comeback as he completed the hat trick.

Tippet added a goal of his own less than a minute later to make it 6-1 Mintos.

The Stars now return home for a Wednesday night matchup against the league-leading Tisdale Trojans (32-6-0-3) at the Civic Centre.
