Jody Reiter and Martin Smith have stepped down from their coaching duties with the Battlefords AAA Stars.
There will be some big shoes to fill, as Reiter and Smith led the Stars to back-to-back league final appearances in 2014 and 2015.
This year, the Stars were able to hold onto the eighth and final playoff spot. Their post Christmas surge led them to the post-season, where the Stars were eventually swept by the first place Regina Pat Canadians.
It was a giant turnaround season. Layne Young graduated from the black and white with a 31-goal season, and was named the rookie of the year with the North Stars. Troy Gerein accompanied him, while Spencer Bast made the jump to the WHL.
The Stars tweeted that the organization was accepting applicants for the head coach position April 29. The team will look to fill in this role before looking for their new assistant coach.
