The Battlefords AAA Stars (21-11-0-1) played three games last week, picking up a last second win at home, and back-to-back losses on the weekend.
Thursday, Jared Hillis scored with 16 seconds remaining to give the Stars a 6-5 win over the Saskatoon Contacts (19-11-0-2.)
Layne Young had three assists, while Spencer Bast had two goals in the win.
Hillis’ goal came after the Contacts scored four unanswered goals to claw back from a 5-1 deficit the Stars had built midway through the second period.
After a wraparound attempt by Owen Lamb, Hillis jumped on the rebound, and backhanded the puck past Isaac Labelle to give the Stars the win.
Talen King made rare back-to-back starts for the Stars over the weekend, but couldn't pick up a win as the Stars dropped 3-2 and 6-4 games to the Tisdale Trojans (26-5-0-2.)
Saturday, the Stars had a 2-1 lead after two periods on the strength of goals from Keelan Saworski and Braydon Buziak.
Caleb Seaman scored shorthanded less than a minute after the Stars made it 2-0, to give the Trojans life before the end of the period.
Seaman then tied the game 5:42 into the third, with the assists going to Parker McCormick and Kalem Zary.
With exactly seven minutes remaining Zary scored to give the Trojans their first lead of the game, and they held on for the 3-2 win.
Sunday the Stars once again had the lead after the first period, this time up 3-1 on goals from Spencer Bast, Chad Grambo and Troy Gerein.
The Trojans came back again, scoring three times in the second period while the Stars scored just once for a 4-4 tie heading to the final period.
Layne Young picked up the lone goal in the period, with help from Bast and Gerein. All three had multi-point games for Battlefords.
In the third period the Trojans were the only ones to score, as they did so twice, sealing back to back losses for the Stars and a 6-4 final.
The Stars are now off until Thursday when they head to Saskatoon to take on the Blazers (10-25-0-0.)
