Bantom Red Sox win NCMBL title; host playoffs

The Muenster Bantam Red Sox baseball team won the North Central Minor Baseball League (NCMBL) league championship title on June 26 in Watson. They advanced to the League Championship tournament by finishing first in the league with a rain-shortened 8-1 record.

By placing first in the league, Muenster received a bye in the first round and played the winner of the game between Watson and Wynyard. Wynyard advanced to play Muenster in the semifinal. Muenster defeated Wynyard by a score of 11-3 and advanced to the final game versus Humboldt No. 1. Muenster came out on top with an 11-3 win.

The Bantam Red Sox will be hosting the Zone 5 Bantam A2 Provincial playoffs on July 3-4. Four teams - Lumsden Cubs, Wynyard Blues, Davidson, and Muenster Red Sox - will be competing. Games begin Saturday morning at 10 a.m. The top two teams will advance to Provincials which will be held in Kipling on July 16-18.
