The Battle West district has plenty of athletes heading to Yorkton this weekend for the SHSAA Provincial Track and Field Championships in Yorkton.
In total, 157 individual entries along with eight relay teams are heading to Yorkton.
From Cut Knife, Jayden Waldner is taking part in the 80-metre hurdles, triple jump and long jump senior categories.
For Hafford, Lane Dubyk partcipates in the midget javelin competition, Cole Fendelt will compete in senior javelin, Joel Gryzbowski is in the junior boys' long jump, Megan Jones will run in the 800-metre senior girls’ event, Leah Kohut is in the midget girls’ discus, shot put and javelin, Ryan Krascok runs in the 100-metre hurdles and 200-metre dash junior boy’s, Lucas LaFreniere competes in the 1500-metre senior boys' run, Nicholas Lesko is in the 100 and 200-metre dash midget boys' as well as the triple jump, Aiden Sitter is in the 100-metre senior boys' hurdles and high jump and Joseph Tanchak is in the 800-metre junior boys' run.
Leoville’s representatives are Dalton Bill who competes in the midget boy’s discus, Matt Bonneau who is in the senior boys' discus, Denay Chalifour in the 80-metre midget girls' hurdles, Josh Henri is in the 200-metre junior boys' run, Tayler Paddison is in the 400-metre dash junior boys' run and high jump, Keegan Tiringer is in the 100-metre dash junior boys' event as well as shot put and Lainee Zaparaniuk is in the junior girls’ shot put.
Luseland athletes are in eight events, with Tyler Birn competing in senior boys' shot put and discus, Chase Frenette in midget boy’s long jump and triple jump, Tyson Gleave in junior boys' shot put and discus, Cassidy Zunti in the 3000-metre girls’ run and Jaden Zunti in the senior boys' triple jump.
Maymont has three athletes competing in five events, with Keara Amson competing in the 400-metre midget girls’ dash, discus and 200-metre dash, Carlee Hamilton in the junior girls’ javelin and Jacob Young in the 100-metre dash junior boys’.
Medstead representatives are Jayda Englot in the junior girls’ shot put, Dawson Hill in the 3000-metre midget boys’ run, Josh Hill in the junior boys’ discus, Beau Jesse in the senior boys’ javelin, Kesha Kohl in the senior girls’ high jump, Paynton Kohl in the senior girls’ 80-metre hurdles, Danielle Orange in senior girls’ discus and shot put, Steven Ramsay in junior boys’ 100-metre hurdles, high jump and triple jump, Michael Rodzen in junior boys’ javelin, Tanisah Schaffer in midget girls’ javelin and Randi Siemens in junior girls’ discus and javelin.
Wilkie representatives include Rachel Cey In the 1500 and 3000-metre junior girls’ runs, Jolene Gruber in the 400 and 800-metre junior girls’ runs and triple jump, Taylor Hoffman in the 100-metre senior girls’ dash and triple jump, Brayden Johnson in the senior boys’ long jump, Jacob Mamer in the midget boys’ shot put, Jordyn Thomas in the junior girls’ discus and high jump and Cjardai Ulrich in the girls’ tetrathlon.
Spiritwood has three athletes in nine events, with Connor Diehl in the senior boys’ 100-metre hurdles, 100 and 200-metre dash and high jump, Charm Henderson in the 80-metre midget girls’ hurdles, high jump, triple jump and long jump and Devyn Thompson in the midget boys’ discus.
Unity athletes include Carter Acton in the midget boys’ high jump, Brandt Bertoia in the 100 and 200-metre senior boy’s dashes, long jump and triple jump, Damien Bowey in the midget boys’ 800 and 1500-metre runs, Gavin Dyck in senior boys’ shot put, Terra Defirko in senior girls’ high jump, Madison Gilbert in the midget girls’ 800-metre run, Emily Mabbett in the senior girls’ discus, shot put and javelin, Cayne Sperle in midget girls’ long jump, Elise Stifter in senior girls’ long jump and javelin and Kyla Van De Meutter in senior girls’ 200 and 400-metre dash.
From JPII in North Battleford, Keirra Bourelle competes in the senior girls’ 100-metre dash, Jillisa Klippenstein in the junior girls’ 800-metre run and high jump, Narcisse Mbwebwe in the junior boy’s 400-metre dash, long jump, triple jump and javelin, Jordyn Nachtegaele in the midget girls’ high jump, Ellyssa Nielsen in the senior girls’ 1500 and 3000-metre runs, Katelyn Peterson in the senior girls’ 400, 1500 and 3000-metre runes, Jordan Reed in the junior girls’ 80-metre hurdles, 200-metre dash and long jump, Jacob Stynsky in the boy’s tetrathlon,Ashley Wehrhahn in the senior girls’ 200-metre dash and Megan Yockey in the junior girls’ 1500-metre run and triple jump.
North Battleford comprehensive has the most individual event entries with 31, they include Brayden Bartkewich in the midget boys’ 100 and 200-metre dashes, Chase Bartko in the midget boys’ javelin, Drew Beavers in the junior girls’ 100, 200 and 400-metre dashes, Riley Boczulak in the senior boys’ 400, 800 and 3000-metre runs, Alexis English in the midget girls’ 100 and 200-metre dashes and triple jump, Owen Lamb in the boy’s tetrathlon, Erik Peterson in the midget boy’s 400, 800, 1500 and 3000-metre runs, Katherine Schlapkoh in the midget girls’ 1500 and 3000-metre runs, Camryn Simon in the midget girls’ shot put, Cole Simon in the senior boys’ 800, 1500 and 3000-metre runs, Cole Toovey in the junior boys’ 100-metre hurdles, Michael Toovey in the midget boys’ 400-metre dash and high jump, Brantley Wasmuth in the junior boys’ 1500 and 3000-metre runs, Zach Weber in the midget boys’ shot put, Jordin Wilkinson in the girls’ tetrathlon and Zach Wolfe in the midget boys’ 100-metre hurdles.
The tetrathlon event includes 100 and 800-metre runs, long jump and shot put.
There are also four relay teams heading to Yorkton to compete in the 4X100-metre senior, junior and midget girls’ and boy’s categories and 4X400 boy’s and girls’ categories.
