The Battlefords were well represented at the Junior Women's Northern Playdown in Eston on the weekend, as two teams competed with four others for spots in the provincial curling tournament in Moose Jaw.

Alison Ingram's team of Lisa Chambers, Samatha McKee and Tracey Chennoa earned a spot through one of the C-event qualifiers. Ingram won her first game Friday 12-9 over Shelby Silzer of Martensville.

In their next game, Team Ingram lost 13-5 to Ashley Lang, who went on to win the A-event.

After falling to the B-event, Ingram beat fellow Battlefords representative Morgan Nyholt 11-8.

In a rematch with Silzer, this time Ingram lost 12-4 and fell into one of the C qualifiers. Her opponent was once again Nyholt.

After facing five counters in the second end, Nyholt was able to hit and stick to tie the game, but points in the third, fourth and fifth ends for Ingram helped her punch her ticket to provincials with a 7-3 score.

Nyholt's first game of the weekend was against Shelby McPhee and it was an 8-7 loss.

Nyholt's team included third Shelby Nichol, second Blayne Nichol and lead Lindsey Nyholt.

Ingram's rink will compete in provincials in Moose Jaw Jan. 5 to 9.
