It is getting down to crunch time as the regular season winds down for several local area teams.

THE BATTLEFORDS - Here is a look at the hockey action involving Battlefords teams for this past weekend:

The regular season is almost over in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League, and this weekend there was a full schedule of games.

Friday night scores saw Radisson over Perdue 8-0, Turtleford over Maidstone 7-3 and Battleford over Maymont 16-2 in Maymont. 

Saturday scores had Meota win in Battleford 4-2, Perdue over Spiritwood 6-4 and Turtleford over Maymont 14-2. Sunday action saw Maidstone over Radisson 8-4.

League standings have Meota Combines on top with a perfect 13-0 record, with Turtleford second at 11-2 and Battleford third at 9-3. 

There are two games left on the schedule Feb. 4: Meota at Maymont, and Perdue at Battleford.

In U18 action, the Battlefords AAA Stars had no games this weekend and the team has seen a number of postponements in the last number of days lately due to various COVID-19 protocols. Their home game that was set for Jan. 26 versus Prince Albert has been rescheduled to Feb. 16.

A revised home schedule has been released for the team for February, and it includes games Feb. 11 and 12 versus Yorkton, Feb. 16 versus P.A., Feb. 19 against Notre Dame and Feb. 26 and 27 versus Tisdale. The Stars are scheduled to be back in action on the road in Prince Albert Feb. 2 and have several road games coming up.

The female Battlefords AAA Sharks were not in league action this weekend; their next game on the schedule is Feb.10 at home to Prince Albert.

And in male AA action in the Centre Four League, the North West Stars won 5-1 over Parkland Elks in a game played at St. Walburg Arena.
