The Meota Combines (2-2-0-0) and Battleford Beaver Blues (2-1-0-0) won all their games this past week, going a combined 3-0.
The Beaver Blues played just one game, they travelled south to Perdue and picked up a 5-1 win over the Pirates (0-6-0-0).
Keegan Sparrow was the star for Battleford, as he scored twice and set up another goal for a three point night.
Mitch Cooper and Scott Maunula also had multi point games for the Beaver Blues.
The Combines also played a game in Perdue, as last Tuesday they doubled up the Pirates 8-4.
Michael Pylypow had a hat-trick and added two assists for the Combines, who also had a four point efforts from Brody Tatchell and Brett Mitchell.
Friday, the Combines welcomed the Radisson Wheat Kings to the Civic Centre, and handed them a 5-1 loss.
Pylypow and Tatchell continued their offensive ways, each recording three points in the win.
Meota jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, when Taylor Tatchell received a pass from his brother, and beat Wheat Kings goalie Jon Rose five-hole through a screen. It was Tatchell’s first goal of the season.
Pylypow doubled the lead with his fourth of the year when he picked up a rebound off a Brody Tatchell shot, before pulling it to the backhand and sliding it past a helpless Rose with 54 seconds remaining in the period.
Radisson got on the board nearly seven minutes into the second period, when on the power play Dana Derbowka surprised Combines goalie Quinton Gauthier when a loose puck came out from behind the net. Derbowka was in the right spot to backhand the puck past Gauthier while he was still looking for the puck.
That was the only time Radisson was able to celebrate during the game, as it was all Combines from that moment on.
Six and a half minutes into the third, Kyle Gregoire had an amazing rush through the neutral zone and through a pair of Wheat Kings defenders, before centring the puck to O’Neil Baillargeon who one-timed it past a sliding Rose.
5:59 later, Pylypow scored his second of the game when he found a loose puck during a scramble in front of the Wheat Kings net, and put it into the wide open net to make it 4-1. Brody Tatchell was given the only assist.
Brody then added a goal of his own, when he scored short-handed on an empty net from centre ice, a minute and a half into a Taylor Willsey penalty for interference.
The Combines and Beaver Blues have both won two games in a row. Meota lost their first two games of the year, while Battleford dropped their opening game.
The Beaver Blues are back at it Wednesday when they host the Spiritwood Timberwolves (1-2-0-0), the Combines are off until Saturday when they welcome the Glaslyn North Stars (0-2-0-0)
