Bronze for Crusaders at home tournament

It has been a year of learning the game, growing as a team and improving for the John Paul II senior boys' Crusaders volleyball team according to their coach Kristina Binette.

It has been a year of learning the game, growing as a team and improving for the John Paul II senior boys' Crusaders volleyball team according to their coach Kristina Binette.The Crusades hosted the final tournament of the season before regionals and earned a bronze medal on their home court.

Joining John Paul II at the tournament were Hillmond, Paradise Hill, Meadow Lake, Wilkie, Rosthern Junior College and North Battleford Comprehensive High School.

After round robin play, the Crusaders found themselves in the top four and in the semi final against Meadow Lake.

Meadow Lake advanced to the final and came up against NBCHS.

The Vikings came from behind in both sets to win the gold medal, their second tournament gold in two weeks.

In the bronze medal match the Crusaders beat Rosthern to give them another bronze medal on the season.

With a handful of bronze medal finishs from tournaments this season, the Crusaders now turn their attention to the 5A regional playoffs in Prince Albert this weekend.

"We are hoping to put our best foot forward," said Binette.

The top four teams of John Paul II, NBCHS, Prince Albert St. Mary, Prince Albert Carlton, Melfort and Meadow Lake will advance to provincials in Melfort.
