City holds awards recognition ceremony

A wealth of Humboldt athletes were recognized at the City of Humboldt's Awards Recognition ceremony for 2011 on January 20.

Local athletes who won provincial and national medals in 2011 were honoured by the City of Humboldt during an on-ice Awards Recognition ceremony at the Humboldt Broncos game on January 20.


A wealth of Humboldt athletes were recognized at the City of Humboldt's Awards Recognition ceremony for 2011 on January 20.
The ceremony was held on the ice at the Elgar Petersen Arena during the first intermission of the Humboldt Broncos hockey game.
All of those who made it onto the ice that night had achieved first place at a provincial level, or placed in the top three at the national level in 2011.
Those recognized included:
The Humboldt Dodgers AAA Midget baseball team, who won Provincials, and placed fourth at Nationals in 2011.
Members of the Humboldt Tae Kwon Do Club, who won gold medals at provincial tournaments, including Pam Lemky, Hayden Reeme, Justin Temple, Kyle Everitt, Tiri Cook, Landon Tessier, Alishea Reeme, Darwin Lessmeister, Amy Reeme, Kellin Everitt.
The Humboldt Collegiate Institute Mohawks 4A girls' basketball team, who won provincial gold in 2011.
The Humboldt AA Midget Broncos hockey team, who won both league and provincial titles.
The curling team of Tyler Hartung, Dean Jaeb, Jason Fleischhacker and Jonathan Fleischhacker, who won the Juvenile Provincial Curling title in March of 2011.
The U-14 Humboldt Hurricanes boys' soccer team, who won the Division II provincial championships.
Members of the Humboldt Hammerheads Swim Team who won provincial gold, including McLaren Paulsen, Michael Solar, Justin Berscheid, Elliot Dillabough, Maya Berscheid, Michael Carnago, Calum McAnally and Mitchell Mueller.
Morgan Lueke, 13, a member of the Calico Gymnastics Club who won provincial gold in level one gymnastics.
The Humboldt Mosquito baseball team, who were the Provincial A champions in 2011.
