After a stellar four year collegiate career at the Univeristy of Utah, Humboldt native Paige Crozon will be heading overseas.
After graduating from Utah in the spring Crozon spent the early part of the summer in search for a professional contract, ultimately finding it with the Saarlouis Royals in Germany’s Damen Basketball Bundesliga (DBBL).
“I am incredibly grateful to be joining the Saarlouis Royals next season in Germany,” said Crozon in a press release from Slan Sports Management.
“It is exciting for me to move across the world and experience a different culture and a different style of basketball. I hope to benefit their club by bringing my experience in international competition with the Canadian National Team.”
Crozon, a 6’1” guard/forward completed her collegiate career with more than 1000 career points.
In her senior season, Crozon averaged 10.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
She also finished fifth in the Pac-12 in free throw percentage, knocking down 82.7 per cent of her shots from the line.
Her overall free throw percentage during her four year career was 83.8 per cent, good enough for the third highest in program history.
Crozon heads to the Royals with a wealth of basketball experience that includes a gold and two bronze medals in high school provincial championship action with the HCI Mohawks, as well as stints with the Canadian National Team, first in 2010 at the U17 World Championships, as well as the 2011 U19 World Championships, the 2011 Pan American Games, the 2011 3-on-3 Youth Olympic Games, the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 tournament, and has played on the Canadian Development Team as well.
Crozon will be joining a Royals squad that finished fourth last season in the DBBL standings, and advanced to the league semi-finals before eventually losing to the eventual league champion TSV Wasserburg.
Saarlouis head coach Hermann Paar said in the press release that he is excited to be able to add Crozon to his roster for next season, and says he expects her to make a “huge impact”.
“With her size and versatility, she is exactly the type of player we were looking for.”
