The North Battleford Comprehensive High School Junior Vikings football season recently came to an end after a short season.

Coach Lyndon Hienemann said it was a great season with a lot of fun moments, but in recent years it has become harder to line up games with Saskatoon and Prince Albert teams. In Saskatoon, they have a junior football league with a balanced league schedule and in Prince Albert facilities and refs are harder to find because the minor football programs runs at the same time.

Prince Albert was the Vikings' main rivals this season with two schools playing 12-man football in the city.

The NBCHS Junior Vikings played just one home game this season against P.A. St. Mary's that ended 8-6. The Vikings also played in Prince Albert against Carlton, as that game finished 12-6.

NBCHS also attended the annual jamboree hosted by Prince Albert St. Mary's and Prince Albert Carlton at the beginning of the season.

The junior program, which is led by nearly 50 years of football coaching experience, has been a cornerstone for the development of the players to move up to the senior level and this year was no exception. Five players: Scott Bilanski, Noah Stillar, Colton Huber, Tommy Ironstand and Dalton Landrie practiced with the senior team and were on the roster for the first senior game of the season. Others have also joined in some practices and will be with the seniors looking to gain some experience for the remainder of the season. The senior Vikings will finish their regular season in two weeks with playoffs set to start the final week of October.
