A former captain of the Battlefords North Stars recently signed with the Buffalo Sabres organization.

On July 5, the Sabres announced they signed defenceman Drew Bagnall, who served as a captain for the North Stars in 2002-03 and played 173 games with the team.

Bagnall, from Oakbank, Man., will most likely find himself playing for Buffalo's American Hockey League affiliate, the Rochester Americans. He has already proven to be an effective player at the AHL level. Bagnall has played six seasons, scoring six goals and 48 assists.

His leadership qualities are evident. Bagnall has donned the "C" multiple times in his career. With the North Stars, then once again at St. Lawrence University, and then twice in the AHL with the Manchester Monarchs and Houston Aeros.
