The SPHL final between the Meota Combines and Hafford Hawks is tied at one after an overtime win on the road by Hafford in game two.
Game one was in Hafford Friday, where the Hawks hadn’t lost a game all season.
Michael Pylypow lead the Combines to victory, as he scored two goals, added two assists and even dropped the gloves to complete the “Gordie Howe Hat Trick” in a 4-2 win.
Tyson Knight and Sean Leniuk also scored for the Combines, while Scott Linell and Ryan Scheafer answered for the Hawks.
Brett Miller also fought in game one as Darren Delainey and Dallas Simmonds answered the bell.
Game two at the Civic Centre Saturday night also saw Knight, Miller and Pylypow score for the Combines.
Pylypow now shares the playoff lead in scoring with Scheafer as they both have 16 points.
Delainey, Scheafer and Kyle Rivett, who scored twice, answered for the Hawks.
Hafford scored seven minutes into overtime in front of the largest crowd of the season for the Combines.
Despite being the top team during the regular season, the Hawks don’t have another playoff game this year.
Game three is being played at the Battleford Arena Tuesday, with game four at the Civic Centre Friday.
If a deciding game five is necessary, it will also be played at the Battleford Arena.
