North Stars in action Friday, plus two home games for AAA Stars

Plenty of local hockey happening this weekend in the Battlefords.

THE BATTLEFORDS - Here is a rundown of some of the upcoming hockey action happening in the Battlefords this weekend.

The Battlefords North Stars are back in action Friday night at 7:30 PM at Access Communications Centre, taking on the Melfort Mustangs. It will be Toque and Mitten Toss night in support of the Food Bank and the Empty Stocking Fund campaign. The North Stars are in Nipawin Saturday night, and then host Notre Dame next Tuesday for Teddy Bear Toss Night,

This Saturday at 7:30 p.m. the Battlefords AAA Stars will be in U18 action versus the Swift Current Legionnaires. The two teams meet again Sunday at 2 p.m., with both weekend games at the Access Communications Centre. Going into the weekend, the Stars have a record of 8-15-0-2 for 18 points.

Prior to the AAA Stars game on Saturday night, the Access Communications Centre will host the Northwest Stars as they take on Warman in AA action at 4:15 p.m. that afternoon.

The next league games for the female U18 Battlefords Sharks are next Friday and Saturday in Regina versus the Rebels.

In the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League, none of the Battlefords-based teams are at home this weekend. The Battleford Beaver Blues hit the road to play Perdue Pirates in Biggar on Friday night. The next game for Meota Combines is Dec. 17 in Radisson.
