Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) and other Humboldt track and field teams were successful at the Horizon Central Athletic Association North West Pre-District meet on May 19.

“I was impressed with the dedication of our athletes and our coaches,” said track and field coach, Tom Schwinghamer. “There is a strong sense of pride to always strive to achieve personal bests. It’s not only about the ribbons or the medals, but the desire to make the next performance the best performance.”

Athletes went on to compete at the district championships, which were held May 26 in Saskatoon. At the pre-district meet, HCI topped all teams with 1,529.5 points. Schwinghamer said there were some very impressive performances by many HCI students. He expressed his appreciation to the coaches, volunteers, parents, and administrators who support the track and field team.

“It’s the combined efforts of many people that helps our program be successful,” Schwinghamer said.
